Family Visit to Utah

My entire family came out to Utah for the first time together and for some the first time ever. We always find it a real treat when people to us, it's fun to show off where you live and see people so dear as family. Everyone made it for Eden's baptism on Sunday August 9th, which was super special to us.

Baptism at New Song PCA

I know there are plenty of mixed thoughts and opinions about infant baptism out there. But I love that it is our acknowledgement of our own sins and need of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and a promise to teach Eden of this, for she too needs Jesus. I also love that it's our church family publicly promising to help us raise her in fear and love of God. My prayer for Eden is that she may never know a day apart from God's love. It's super scary being a parent. So many ways it seems you could "ruin" your child or  set them up for failure. I am thankful Eden ultimately belongs to Lord of all creation who loves her more than we ever could and will be her song and salvation. When I remember this, it eases my fears and anxieties. God is always bigger than our failures. Even our parenting failures.

We are really THE WORST at remembering to take pictures. Someone really needs to get on that.
I will need to put Eden back in the dress her Susu (Davis's mom) provided for her baptism. In all the hullabaloo, we failed to get a good one of her in the dress and us as a family.

Aunt SaySay with the cousins
Eden has a cousin that is four months older. Isabel lives in Virginia, with the rest of my siblings, but they are going to be best friends growing up. It's exciting to have girl cousins so close in age.

We rented a condo in Park City for a few days since our house is a tad small for everyone. We had a nice time just relaxing, hiking, eating, and checking out a few sites around Park City. Two wee ones made getting out a little more tricky.

Ingrid got some love too
My brothers and their families had to head out early but my parents and sister stayed the whole week. We continued our hiking, eating, and hanging out. It was really great having them here. I really wish Virginia was a lot closer. Hopefully it won't be too long before we see them again!

Three Months

Three Month babe and fur sister Ingrid

Peek-a-boo!

I am trying to write this quickly. Thirty minute naps go by very fast. Not much can get done in that span of time. Our little Eden is three months now. She past that milestone over a week ago. She is smiley and sweet. She loves to blow spit bubbles, stick out her tongue, stand with the help of mom and dad, and is learning to laugh. She also has just started working on rolling over but we have a ways to go with that. The past week has been very good but very busy. Once I get more organized, there will be a post about it. Until then, we head into another week. This week I go back to work, just one day a week, but the anxieties are multiplying as Wednesday draws near. I don't know how these mommas go back full time. I am thankful I will be home with Eden most of the week.

**Edited**
Eden has been asleep for an hour now! She hasn't napped this long in two months! So I am adding this:
Here is the onesie Eden came home from the hospital in three months ago.

Here she is at three months, same outfit. This helps me see really how much she has grown!

Lately

We have been coasting along lately. Keeping busy with baby, gardening, friends, and the general "soak up the sun" summer mentality. My entire nuclear family comes Saturday for a visit. I am looking forward to this visit. Neither of my brothers have been to SLC. I am excited to show them around. We have rented a place in Park City for a few days since our house is just a little too small for nine adults, two infants, and a dog for several days.

Eden continues to grow. She has the funniest hairline and the best smile. We love her more and more every day. Our lives are completely different now. We are slowly being transformed into parents. It is a good thing. Eden will be able to meet her cousin, Isabel, on Saturday. I never had cousins my age so I am so excited for her to have a girl cousin only a few months older than her. It is just a shame they live so far apart!

Accordion lullaby
I think Davis was actually sounding out "Zacchaeus was a Wee Little Man" at this point. We are dredging the recess of our memories for children's songs now. Eden seemed to sort of enjoy this but the accordion is rather loud and not soothing if you are still working on the piece of music.

We have been gardening up a storm around here. We have so many vegetables we simply have to give a lot of it away. This is by far the best garden we've made in our 5 years of trying. Davis really worked hard on it, I have mostly enjoyed the benefits of his labor. Eden will probably be a weird kid... gardening, accordions, hiking, and things such as these. We kind of hope she is weird :)
